What You'll Learn

Learn how to identify and correct common issues that prevent contacts from importing successfully.

Common Import Errors

Duplicate Contacts

If a contact already exists in your account, the platform may skip the record or update the existing contact depending on your import settings.

Missing Required Information

Some fields may be required before a contact can be imported successfully.

Review your spreadsheet and complete any missing information.

Incorrect File Format

Only CSV files can be imported.

If you're using an Excel workbook (.xlsx), save it as a CSV (.csv) before uploading.

Incorrect Field Mapping

If information appears in the wrong fields after importing, the columns may not have been mapped correctly.

Repeat the import and verify each field before clicking Import.

Invalid Email Addresses

Check for:

  • Missing @ symbols

  • Extra spaces

  • Misspelled domains

Example:

Incorrect:

johnsmithgmail.com

Correct:

[email protected]

Invalid Phone Numbers

Remove unnecessary symbols or formatting if the import reports phone number errors.

Success Check

✔ Your corrected file imports successfully.

✔ All contact information appears in the correct fields.

Pro Tip

💡 If you're importing a large contact list, test with 5–10 contacts first. This lets you verify your field mapping before importing your entire database.
